Ribbon cut on new inclusive playground in Pike Road

The ribbon has been cut for the new inclusive playground in Pike Road.

A ceremony was held yesterday morning for the playground, which is located near Founders Station and Veterans Park, on Pike Road near Meriwether Road.

The playground has different surfaces approved to include children of all physical abilities. Those surface types are cushioned in the blue are and there is a mulched surface on the border.

The playground features all kinds of swings, slides and merry go rounds that are all accessible for children.

“We are so proud to be able to officially open our Children’s Depot, which is the name we’ve used for our all-inclusive playground. What a great day it is to celebrate,” Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone said.’

“This is wonderful. We’ve been Pike Road members for a little over 10 years and we’ve been over to Founders Station for just about everything the town has done here, and I love seeing that it has gone from just that little bitty park to something that everybody can use,” Kelli Anderson, a parent, said.

The park is designed for easy access constructed in a horseshoe style entrance and exit.
